10 years a charm

Today is my ten year wedding anniversary. As usual, the hubby has spoilt me with some lovely gifts. He likes to keep with the tradition of giving me gifts associated with the traditional wedding anniversary gift.

Over the years, this is what I have got…

Year 1 – paper – he got a fake newspaper front cover (that is now framed in our downstairs loo!) proclaiming to be the couple of the year,

Year 2 – cotton – he embroidered an tea towel that has facts and figures relating to 31st July.

Year 3 – leather – I got a radley purse.

Year 4 – flowers – he had a bunch delivered.

Year 5 – wood – a small Woody figure from Toy story and a couple willow tree figuring.

Year 6 – sugar – he made a slide show of photos to the song sugar by the Archies.

Year 7 – wool – he got a Sherlock doll crocheted for me.

Year 8 – bronze – he got me a bronze glitter gel nail varnish

Year 9 – Pottery – He got me a load of Harry Potter stationery.

This year is tin, so he got me a coffee tin, to keep my spare Dolce Gusto pods for the machine he bought me (although I got that a few weeks in advance!)

I got him some lego – the HedWig Owl set.

I will never be rich

because there is far too much good stuff out there!

Money is getting slightly better. I have a loan coming to an end and my mortgage has just gone down. I am also getting a pay rise in September, although I don’t know how much.

Just as easily as it comes in, it goes out again. Hubby is spending money like it is going out of fashion. The energy bills have sky rocketed from mainly being in the house 24/7. Food bills have been crazy with being in the house and whilst petrol use had gone down, it is beginning to creep back up again as I am going back into school more and more and in September, I will be back using public transport again – which is a bit of a bummer.

The summer always comes with the back to school expense, T’s birthday and M’s birthday. For some crazy reason, I also decided to visit my parents (to understand why this could be a crazy decision, you’d have to go back to May two years ago) which means it’ll cost around £50 in petrol. Not a wise decision.

This month, I want to…

  • buy back to school clothes (I need to check out what fits the kids and what we need to buy)
  • get T and M’s birthday present
  • get some more self care products such as replenish my make up, get more face masks (the peel type rather than the wear to the shop type).
  • Get some more storage for the bathroom and some products to encourage my children to bathe more!
  • Bath bombs from Lush
  • Items from my wish list
  • items from my amazon wish list

Out of broken beds, good things rise

As you may or may not have read yesterday – our bed broke. Not through any particular use, in fact I was just sat on it which is especially embarrassing.

Luckily, the bed was fixable (although there were a few tizzy’s from the hubby) and this led to the benefit of the room needing completely emptying and then we got to hoover and make sure it was spotless. I threw two bin bags away, organised my side of the bed and out a lot of things in the loft.

So perhaps things happen for a reason!

In school and sorting

I woke up early this morning (around 3am) needing the toilet and then struggled to go back to sleep. I did then manage to drop back off to sleep for a bit but was up early so I could go into school.

The girls wanted to come too and I can’t say no to their excited little faces.

I managed to get my room mostly sorted and put away stationery etc int he office. I now just need to wait for my walls to be cleaned and I can do displays and set up my furniture.

And the bed broke.

I was sat on the bed and T came up for a cuddle. There was a twang and the base on my side has come away from the headboard. Tonight, I shall be sleeping on the sofa bed and praying that hubby can fix it in the morning 😦

Slow day Monday

I had quite a slow day today. I did respond to e mails (I has about 18 of them before I then got replies to my replies!) and did a little bit of work on book labels.

I did get to play a little with the girls – J using me as a playground for her LOL doll and M wanted to do some colouring.

That was the weekend then

It went so quickly. I can’t even tell you that it has been a productive one. I have watched a whole load of YouTube videos, done a little grocery shopping, played a lot of Sims. I feel like my real list has escaped me somewhat. I am finding myself wanting to shut myself away from the world, the family, and just be in my room in my little bubble. Not good.

I have also not been on top form health wise this weekend either. I definitely need to get my arse in gear and have a healthier lifestyle.

In school and moving out

Today was a day in school and the girls came with me. M was so excited, she got up at 6am to make a packed lunch for herself and her sister. She is such a caring and kind-hearted girl.

Today was about organising stationary for staff as well as organising my room into its cleaning position (everything moved away from the walls, tables piled in the centre of the room). I then had to move my belongings out of the room and into my new room (temporary as I will be out of it again before half term!

It has been a long day and I was glad to get in!

Class dojo

Today has been all about dojo. We use this website (which is a fantastic free site by the way!) for our behaviour rewards as well as a messaging and blog service. Each summer, I have to put the children into their new classes and reorganise the system so that we are ready to start afresh. That was today’s job and I managed it quite easily. I have also awarded the final certificates that need sending out.

Tomorrow, I am in school and taking the girls – T doesn’t want to come – so I can do a little bit more reorganising.

In school

I think one of the biggest things that grates me is the assumption that teachers are lazy. There is the myth that the school day lasts 9-3 and that we have an excessive amount of holidays. It simply isn’t true. I arrive at work before 8 am and don’t get home until gone 6pm. As for holidays – I constantly work through them.

So far this week, I have done a little work everyday. Not masses granted, but a few hours. Today, I was in school for before 9 and stayed until 3 (purely because that was how long the school can stay open for during the holidays so the caretaker doesn’t go over his hours). Tomorrow will be a working from home day and Friday I’ll need to go into work again.

After finishing work, we went into town. Face masks become mandatory in shops from Friday, so wanted to get in with the children beforehand as I cannot face the judgemental looks we may get if J struggles to wear one. She would be excused based on her disability and her age, but people can be arseholes in situations like this. I picked up a few extra stationery and craft bits as well as enjoyed a cheeky KFC. The diet is not going so well!
